Sastre brings back drilled cranks!

Every "tech" feature of every cycling mag and website is talking about Sastre's drilled Rotor crankset. I don't see the point or how these things will ever go into production though. Without test data so it's all visual on my part, but they seem so fragile and not very durable long term. All you need is a hairline crack in the material between a couple of the drilled holes and your next stand-up, full-on sprint may be your last. In terms of stiffness - again without data - but I can only imagine how spaghetti like they would be for the power of a TdF winning or any Pro Tour rider. If low weight is the main goal, I'm thinking there are better ways to go about it. All the latest highend cranksets are so lightweight as it is (and potentially stiffer and more durable). Most of the pro level bikes are so light overall these days that they are keeping SRM's and other bits on just to pass the minimum weight limit.

Still, looks pretty cool.
