hello everyone. ive got a bit of a problem .i recentley bought a full carbon frame .but when i went to put the back wheel in, it wont fit it clashes with the rear stays, up the top were the brake goes in the stays. if i bring the wheel forward in the rear stays about 5 mil, it dosent rub, but its not sitting right back in the stays . its not a problem if its safe but i dont really know. i could do with some 5 mil half moon spacers to sit in the rear stays to just bring the wheel forward that bit. dont want to send frame back as have fitted fork and chainset .can anybody help thanks .

I'm not sure that I am visualizing your problem, but look into SURLY MONKEY NUTS as a possible solution.
Also, to state what may be obvious, check to ensure that your rear wheel is true & properly dished.

the wheels fine mavic cosmic carbones, nearly new and true. the frames a scott but made in tywan.hence dont want to send back. when i pull the rear wheel right back in to the rear stay and do the quick realease up. the wheel tyer rubs on the rear stay at the top near were the brake is housed, but if i pull the wheel forward in the rear stay about 5 mil it doesnt rub. do u think its safe just to leave it forward 5 mil. will it slip back, or will the quick realease hold it firm. if so no probs help!!! thanks.

Hate to state the obvious but the frame is defective, period. Unless you are trying to fit a HUGE tire, not just a 23 or 25mm one. No 'normal' tire should hit the brake bridge when the wheel is installed.
ALL Scotts are built 'offshore'. None in the US, Europe.

Personally, I don't think that relying on the quick release is a good idea ...
The SURLY MONKEY NUTS will offset the rear wheel ... it's an eccentric sleeve.
MONKEY NUTS add about 1mm to each side of the hub, so effectively, your rear hub will have approximately a 132mm spacing. If you think THAT won't be a problem (i.e., slightly spreading the dropouts) then it is the solution I would opt for ...
BTW. I always presumed that the MONKEY NUTS were installed with the "flash" on the hub-side ... but, I suppose it might be possible to mount them "flash" side outside the dropout and/or you can just file off the "flash" part of the MONKEY NUT.
Next time, think about buying a Colnago ... or, Pinarello, Bianchi, etc. Or, even a Raleigh!?!

Well it may but the dropouts aren't really designed that way, to have a wheel not all the way into them. Warranty out of the question?
