Do you have to ride a mountain bike in a mountain bike race? I was thinking of doing a some XC races, but would like to use a cyclocross bike. Can I? Thanks.

You should be able to ride any type of bike, but it might not hurt to ask the race promoter.
For NORBA sanctioned races, I believe the only bike related requirement is having 1 brake for each wheel.
