I have never used a helmet, but since I recently had a fall with my bike (nothing serious), I now want to buy a helmet just in case. I have been looking around and found that the good ones are really expensive for my budget. Finally I found a model that it is not that expensive, the Bell Slant Helmet (see link below), and I was wondering if any of you could tell me if it is a good helmet for the money, or If I should try to get another one.

You don't need to spend a lot to get protection; any brand helmet that fits you well and meets certification standards will give you good protection. The difference between a $40 helmet and a $140 one is largely in the cooling ability and finishing details. Just get one that fits, adjust it correctly, put it on your head and keep it there while riding.

Yes, all helmets I've seen use a dense styrofoam liner covered with a thin plastic shell. The Bell I'm using now came with two sets of stick-on pads for the inside, thick and thin, which of course allows for a fit option. Instructions tell you how to select the options and set up the straps for the safest fit.
