BB Bearing for new Giant

Frames usually don't come with bottom brackets.

Unless they've changed their design to a specific (larger) size, like a couple of other companies have recently, I wouldn't expect to be getting a BB with your order

FSA (amongst others, ie Cannondale) makes press fit bottom brackets, in either the new BB30 standard (a la Cannondale, ZIPP, Specialized, etc.) and also in the ISIS spline design. Check out the FSA website. My LBS already carries press fit FSA BB in their inventory, check out yours. Or I'm sure they can certainly order the BB for you - especially when you just laid down serious cash for a Giant TCR Advance SL frameset (very nice btw).

I haven't been able to find any direct info on what bearings should be used on these trek/giant/scott integrated BBs.

However th elater models of Shimano BBs use a modified 6805 but instead of being 7mm wide they use 6mm wide. This is the same as what campy uses (but probably different spacing, so no the BBs aren't interchangable).

If you can get hold a 6mm wide 6805 it will work. IF it turns out to be too narrow you just need to shim the axel (not uncommon anyway for frames that are faced too narrowly). Problem is they aren't very common, mostly only avaliable through cycling brands and not your local bearings shop. I think this is why they did it, make it harder to get spare parts.

BB30 is a piece fo cake however, nice standard 6806 bearing.

Be smart with what you buy. You can buy some very cheap chinese bearings, even in hybrid ceramic. But remember you get what you pay for. Japanese, Swiss, and German bearings brands tend to be very good quality. I'm trying to get an account with a good brand so I can sell them specifically for cycling applications.
