  1. I bought a pair of these when I bought a Profile basebar at the weekend.
I thought my existing brake cables would fit, but the nipple on the end
is too big. The nipple on the end of a gear cable will fit, but gear
cable looks a *lot* thinner than brake cable and I don't particularly
    want my brakes failing...

Does anyone on around here know if there is a specialist brake cable
for this kind of brake lever...?

    Cheers,

Don't they use a regular barrel nipple?

If you mean one that come on say a set of XTR brake cables as opposed
to one on a set of DuraAce brake cables, we'll find out when I get home.
Went to the LBS at lunch and the XTR's (or other generic MTB cable)
looked the closest to the hole in the lever.

    Cheers,

    Cheers,

    Sorry, not familiar with QuickStops.

Campagnolo nipples are significantly smaller than Shimano ones, so might
fit. Failing that, file the nipples - I've more than once used Shimano
cables (because that was what I could get at the time) with Campag levers,
by (carefully) applying the nipples to a bench grinder. Obviously, don't
    let them overheat.

Turns out they do! MTB style brake cables fit perfectly.
