No, I had to be up at 0545 to cycle to work so went to bed at 9-30pm after
my usual intake of beer (6 pints or so!) and thus slept like a baby through
it. Mrs M did notice it and everybody at work was talking about it.

One woman said her perfume bottles started banging together on the shelf and
another that their dog was going mad before it happened. We had one about 6
years ago here which was like a heavy lorry going by, but apparently this
was much stronger.

Here in Leeds I awoke to find the bed shaking and a rushing and rumbling
noise coming from the attic. I rushed onto the landing expecting to have to
go to the attic to close the velux windows - I'd assumed that my son had
left one or more of them ajar and it had been very windy earlier in the
evening and I assumed that the wind had built up and a gust had swung the
windows against their stops.

The strange thing was that there was no noise at all afterwards. My wife
and children were all sound asleep and I began to doubt the bed shaking
episode and had dismissed it as a dream after waking up from my second bout
of sleep at 6:30. The news made everything clear.
