Local CTC run yesterday that I was allegedly leading. Meander down
to the Disco in plenty of time, park bike to join assembled team in
the cafe and... no pannier on the bike. It has my money, my water,
my snacks, my waterproofs (heavy rain forecast), my lock, my tools.
Bah! I pop in, say sorry for being an [censored], and zip back home
and pick it up from its spot leant against the garage, and we leave
rather later than originally planned. Duh...
A nice easy run with serious tailwind to Carnoustie, and then a
cafe break, and then we all rolled out to head in towards Monikie,
now with an outrageous side wind. Bike not handling very well in
the gusts, but it seems particularly crappy... "your front tyre's
not looking at all healthy!" opines someone, and that would indeed
explain it, so lucky I want back for the pannier as nobody else has
406s with attendant spare tubes. Whatever it was made a pretty
good hole but didn't stay in, so it's just a tube change and
inflation and on our way.
And the third thing /never happens/, so I'm wondering what I'm due
soon? Mind you, could have been the wind, though I suffered
considerably less on the 'bent than the rest of the crew. Checking
mileage back at the Dicso it was about 30. I suggested that was
about 3 out and 27 home, which was agreed to be about the case!
Pete.
