  1. I have just decided to get into cycling and would like some advice on what bike to buy. Price range $700-800US.
I have looked at the Trek 1.2 model but haven't investegated much else. Just wondering if this would be a good bike to get me started or if I should look into different options. Haven't even been to my LBS yet, just looking for advice to get me started so I have some idea what to look for.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  2. go used...
look on ebay or craig's list
you can get MUCH more bike and use the money you save for better shoes etc
then find a caring, local shop that will service it

Thanks for the advice, but I think I would rather buy new so I know what I am getting and can get a bike that is fitted to my size since I'm not sure what size would be best (I'm aroung 6'2" and 180lbs)

  4. Cheap bicycle , i suggest you to buy at Amazon.com it cheap than Target , Buy dot com

Lose the trolls. A Trek 1.2 is a fine choice for sporty road riding. There are other makes you might consider but I don't know anybody who ever regretted buying a Trek.

At 6'2", you'll likely end up with a 60 or 62 cm frame. Your dealer should be able to help you choose your best size. Ride and enjoy.

  6. We just got this 2007 Schwinn Super Sport Ultra 1 Road Bike, works fine for us, also losing few pounds. The flat handlebars also eliminate some pressure on the our arms, shoulders and back.

  7. You may want to consider looking into the Lemond Etape...It is a nifty looking bike, and is almost identical to the trek 1.2. Otherwise...if you step up the budget a little a Lemond Reno is a pretty good deal. Jamis makes some good aluminum performance road bikes that are in that price range...I don't remember the models though.
