As a general rule I don't respond to trolls, but this is hypocrisy gone too

  2. I, too, am disappointed that SEVERAL of the Usenet groups I used to be so
excited to read every day have been destroyed by these jackasses.

I run a non-bicycle-related discussion group over at Google Groups and I've
made it a moderated group solely to avoid trolls, spammers, etc. It works
really great for the members, although I spend A LOT of time filtering out
bad posts and banning the people who sent them.

Perhaps it's time to move this group over to Google and take advantage of
some of the filters that can squash this kind of [censored] before anybody has to
    read it.

The UseNet is a unmoderated group list. It assumes that all
participants will stay on subject. In the case of ARBR, it is a
discussion of recumbents, not politics, religion, or alternative life
styles. Unlike the bumper of your car or the privacy of your home ,
it's not a place to express your opinions except those concerning
recumbents. I understand that recumbents were once coveted by the
counter-culture and for old time sake it may be cool to throw in a
comment about your misadventures of civil disobedience during a recent
Critical Mass, but your comments and opinions will be weighed.

As for Simon's claim of hypocrisy gone too far; his sig is complete
    hypocrisy:

Simon's attempt to marginalize religion is offensive to me. After all,
the most evil men in the 20th century included [censored], Stalin, Po Pot
(Soloth Sar), Lenin. They were all athiest and socialist, yet they all
    murdered millions with cheer.

    Mr. Sherman,

I beg to differ. [censored] ran his campaign on the National Socialist
Party, better known as the NAZI party. Lenin and Stalin were both
communist, the purest form of socialism. Ironic that people are
murdered when they give their freedoms away to socialism. BTW- I
don't give a rats butt if [censored] was a "Fascist", he ran as a
socialist and betrayed the foolish people that elected him. However,
    I digress. Recumbents are cool!!!!

You appear to have confused what something calls itself with what it
    actually /is/.

    "Hey, wake up!"
    "errrr, it's 3 am..."
"there's someone else in the house, I heard them making a noise"
"Okay, I'll go and check it out..., you call the police"

"He said he was in to read the electricity meter and apologised for the
noise, so I left him to it"
"Oh, that's okay then, I'll not call 911"

That's almost a tenth as dumb as thinking [censored] was a socialist because
he called his party the National Socialists...

A widely accepted working definition for what socialism is /meant/ to be
is encapsulated by "From each according to their ability, to each
according to their need". So only if you think large tracts of the
population of occupied Europe /needed/ to be murdered for their own good
can "National Socialism" be equated with socialism. As for Soviet
"communism", "from each according to what they're told, to each
according to whether they're card carrying party members and to an
extent determined by their place in the hierarchy" isn't really the same
    thing either.

All of these people were dressing up in socialist clothes for the PR,
nothing more. If you want a look at real socialism you'll get much
closer to the truth by looking at, say, Scandinavian governments of the
post-war era than you'll find in the USSR, the 3rd Reich or Kampuchea.

Sad that they were duped into thinking that their governments were
    anything to do with socialism.
