No. You need 1/2 x 3/32 chain with plain ol' flat side plates. KMC
makes some and sells it for the same cheap price as the 1/8" stuff.

Full width (7.8mm) 1/2 x 3/32 chain. It's cheap and readily available.
1/8 chain doesn't move sideways well enough, probably won't clear the
derailleur cage and likely will not mesh fully, hitting the next sprocket.
