    loose or popped spoke?

  4. thanks for that guys. How do I check the wheel bearings?

I,m not too good at this stuff! I got a maintaince dvd that is very good but it does not cover this subject.😕

  5. To start off with check the spokes. Then check if there is any side to side play. Check the wheel's trueness. Look for anything out fo the ordinary. Ride at low speed and see if you can detectwhat is wrong; you might have another rider look at your rear wheel because he will have a better view. Last resort is to take your bike to a shop.

You really should find out what the problem is before doing much riding again.

  6. grab the wheel and see if you can shake it from side to side without turning it, even just a little bit. That will show if the bearings are loose. If that is the case, I would be surprised if they weren't already trashed.

  7. Check:

    1. Tyre pressure within recomended range
    2. Tyre seating ok on rim, no tube under the bead
    3. Quick Release or axle nuts loose
    4. Rim for true
    5. Bearings for play
    6. brake shoes for interference
    7. take to bike shop

Need more evidence. Is it the coasting that causes the shake, or the speed at which you happen to be traveling? Or, can you wobble the wheel sideways when it's clamped in the dropouts? Or, when you spin the wheel, does it have a jump or blip as it spins on its axle?

You know, you're more likely to find the problem by getting your hands dirty and examining the bike than reading messages from people who've never seen you or your bike. Or take it to a shop.$$
