"obscure"! But then I live in the Hebrides and am used to sites with
names like "isleofislay". "isleofjura", "isleofcoll", etc.

like "isleofislay". "isleofjura", "isleofcoll", etc.

I was taking the [censored] out myself for my inability to use google/read
properly! Where in the Hebrides are you? Is Tiree a good destination for
December?

Depends what you want to do!

Unless the weather is reasonable, it's a fairly exposed island with
little or no shelter - no trees. You also have the possibility of ferry
cancellations and delays, a little more of a problem than here. Of
course on Islay in December, if the weather is inclement, there are
several welcoming/warming distilleries to visit :-)

Sounds good (hopefully I'll get stranded there until spring!), and I'm sure
there'll always be somewhere on Tiree for a warming dram.
