Very very sad that a few sick people destroy subjects daily. A lousy Saturday gave me time to look at the postings by a sick cookie on this list. This group is pretty much dead; I hope it returns to life in Spring when the exciting Catrike Speeds and the Sun tadpoles roam the road for '04.
My '03 Speed is so outstanding, that I ordered an '04 for the thinner wheels and the 2" seat rise without destroying my '03.
Hopefully, the subjects will return to normalcy by Spring. Maybe al-Queda will bomb Minnesota or something. And I thought I was out of line mentioning my double-fairing motorized TerraTrike. I was NOT! Just another HPV trick up my sleeve.

I agree, Chris. I have started visiting this list maybe every 1 or 2 months because it is turning into such a gathering place for anything but recumbents. I see a still few continue to try to post good subject lines.
I am glad to hear that you like your Speed. It is a trike that I have been looking forward to trying when I am able to buy a trike (hopefully spring). I also want to see a Catrike Trail too.

I liked the Catrike Speed so much when doing a long-term test for 'bentrider online, that I bought it! But I will have to say this: after looking over the specifications, and a brief test ride, if I were given the choice between the Speed and the Trail, for ME the Trail might be a better choice. Not that I would regret either, but I do like the Trail's use of same-sized wheels and the higher ground clearance. The recline angle of the Speed's seat doesn't bother me, so the bit less recline of the Trail would be more of a factor to others. I was only daring putting Schwalbe Marathon tires on and Tandem East crank arm shorteners on since those imports are NOT over the counter around here.
The next year the Catrike Speed caught my full attention, quickly becoming my daring sports car, making my TT a more dependable cruiser.

I’ve Currie DF’s & a Currie scooter myself- Don’t like the thought of adding that weight to bents generally. Find the scooter of minimal utility so will convert the scooter to an electric rwd/pedal fwd lowracer.

Hey Joshua, is it easy to use Crystalyte motors with any regenerative braking capacity to help bents on the hill issue?
odd you should mention regenerative braking, I just spent an hour this morning with the designer of such a controller to get it a patent. It is being field tested on a DF in the Rocky Mountains of B.C. 1st and then on a recumbent next using a Crystalyte model 408 and so far so good.
