I put mine in after midnight, thinking I should get started on
cooking. I almost forgot to put in the eggs, but they made it at the

entire thing just to get at the drip pans, because I can't remove my
coils - so I had another adventure in cleaning after the pie was put
back into the oven.

Oddly enough, I wasn't flustered or discombobulated.... but I'll grant

Thanks, I posted more adventures from last night in a new thread. I
should have just started early like you. Instead, I decided to make
things ahead of my comfort zone.

We have a small turkey (which should take 4.5 hours to roast) because
hubby doesn't like turkey, especially turkey leftovers, and we're not
sure how much people will be eating because they are going to other
T'giving gatherings before they settle here. I'm thinking maybe I'll
get a ham to toss in the oven, if I can find one on sale today. We
both like leftover ham.

I only roasted a turkey breast, and it came out well. I did eat 2 slices
of turkey, but I won't be eating any of the leftover. David loved the
turkey, so leftovers of it won't be a problem.

I'd also rather have ham, and I will do that at Christmas.

That's true, but if there is a lot of leftover ham from the meal, I don't
like it frozen. Something horrible seems to happen to it. I just found
out recently that Honey-Baked Ham can now be purchased by the pound, which
is what I will do in the future. I'm the only one who eats it in this
house.

Ham is traditional for Christmas dinner in the South, which was traditional
in our house. I have served roast beef a few times, but ham with raisin

Probably for no other reason than that pork is the animal most abundant
and everyone could get some easily.
I find it gets done to death and welcome anything different from every
other church supper, pot luck, holiday meal, etc..

But then again, in my southern household we only do ham once in a while
because we really love good beef, lamb and other things for fancy
holiday meals.
