Butter kuchen

  1. When I was growing up we would occasionally get a butter kuchen from
    the bakery down the street. They were the best things in the world.
    The dough was a basic sweet dough and the topping was this wonderful
    buttery sweet syrupy goo. I've got the dough part down but I've never
    been able to reproduce the topping. I've tried two recipes so far.
    The first one was to eggy and the filling set up to much. The filling
    is suppose to be runny. The second one called for oil instead of
    butter and it was a complete disaster. I don't often throw out sweet
    goods but in this case I made the exception. Does anyone have a
    recipe for a butter kuchen like I've described?
