  1. Professor Peter Sonksen, an endocrinologist and doping expert, said today that current testing for HGH is completely inadequate and will remain so until beyond the Beijing Olympics. He claimed that 8 years ago he had offered WADA a test that was 100 times more reliable but it had been rejected in favour of a cheaper but much less effective alternative.
In response, a WADA spokesman admitted that all this was true and conceded that a positive for HGH was only triggered if it had been injected within a day or so. He went on to say that passing the test proved very little and said that the drug was probably being widely abused with impunity.
That little lot confirmed what most of us already knew and demonstrated how easy it is to take PEDs without discovery (poor pun intended). Of course, this won't stop the sanctimonious brigade of head-in-the-sand morons from proclaiming that no positives equals no drug taking.

  2. I didn't even know they had implemented a test. I thought it was still not even being tested because they couldn't come up with a valid, reliable test?

The other big drug that must be effectively undetectable is the corticosteroids, they are almost universally mentioned when someone comes clean, yet almost no one is ever positive for it.

  3. All the HGH talk is stupid. HGH helps you stay lean not much more.

  4. I thinks that there are actually a tiny number of drugs that are detectable and of those the risk is minimal if used properly. It makes you wonder why anybody ever tests positive. It must be down to stupidity, carelessness, a feeling of invincibility or being specifically targetted. Even amongst that subset a good number of positives over the years have been 'vanished' away, so the odds against any individual getting busted must be very high indeed. Everything positive that the UCI says on the subject is mere posturing and they all know it.

I think it's hard to say what effect it has on someone undergoing the stresses of a professional cyclist because as far as I am aware no one has looked at in a systematic manner.

Or what effect it would have used along with other PEDs or blood doping procedures. It was suppose to be part of Conconi's original magical formula along with EPO for boosting RBCs.

Actually, HGH has been shown to greatly improve eyesight as well. Something that can help a LOT of athletes (obviously not track and field). Apparently, it can also stimulate the immune system (allowing you to train harder and not get sick), and can strengthen bones. There are also a gazillion negative effects but most athletes don't care.

It's not close to EPO or insulin, testosterone, cortisone.

you are allowed to use corticos, they were taken off the banned list.

Right. It's a pointless drug that for some reason is widely consumed by professional athletes and yet -- despite the fact that it's expensive relative to other PEDs -- they continue to buy it and abuse it with little or no result.

    Strange, eh?

    but it supercharges testosterone.

    HGH by itself, negigible.

    testosterone by itself, negligible.

Both together, they work well in unison.

Some scientists say test does not help, and neither does HGH. But Ferrari et al, the guys doing the prac, and the applied science, know it does.

Now the scientists say, test AND hgh used together, does benefit. So, imagine what Ferrari probably has found out!

Which, of course, is why tens of thousands of athletes in dozens of sports are spending small fortunes on it. They just want to get that fashionably lean look. It's just so obvious.
I've just heard the guy from WADA say that he thinks its use at the Olympics is probably rife. It must be all those wannabee skinnys trying to look good on TV.

I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing here. I'm talking about the big injections of stuff like Kenacort that riders take on race day?

might be wrong, but I thought a class of drugs, corticosteroids, were off the banned list.

The French peloton, and Gerolsteiner and one other team, at the Tour who made protests, said that they did not have them in the medical bag, but most of the peloton were still using them. And they wanted them done away with.

Those who use it dont just use HGH. They use vitamins and supplements also. There is no test for IGF either but you dont hear about it. HGH is fashionable to talk about for some reason.

I think that they use a hell of a lot more than just vitamins. But you said that HGH is little more than a diet aid. Where do you get this rubbish from? Pat Mcquaid!

Why are you so upset? Are you HGH dealer? 🙄

Here are people that use it.

Many think it is a waste of money.

  17. No, it's just tedious and upsetting trying to educate the ignorant. I am sorry I have made no progress on this front.
If you actually knew about any of this instead of just regurgitating the meathead stuff you would realise that unlike some other PEDs there is no universal response to HGH. Its effects are subtle, varied and unpredictable. However, where it does elicit a positive response and when it is used in combination, its overall effect is considerable. Which, funnily enough, is why it's use is extensive in a wide variety of sports.
Although, according to you, they could just all be trying to shift a few troublesome pounds when they'd be better off sticking to vitamins.

Gregers, Don't be a simpleton. The fashionably thin look isn't the only thing they are after. They also want that fashionable "DiLuca" jaw. Now that look is all the rage in the bunch. Of course DiLuca, Ulrich and Hincapie have a naturally square and elongated face that was in no way was caused by HGH.

How do you know this? Used in combination with what drugs? I want to see your information. I am truly interested to learn, not just read your rude thoughts.

I believe it is only small part of program, not that vitamins will help lose weight. All the talk of it by WADA is marketing not a serious attack on real substances.

  20. If you are really interested in learning then why don't you do it in the first place instead of pontificating about something you evidently know little about. Oh, and if you want to learn, it might be expedient not to make drug dealer jibes to those who might be in a position to educate you. [censored].
