  1. This is the recipe I mentioned a few days ago. It's a longtime family
favorite, always has gotten rave reviews from family, friends,
    strangers...

Mother always served it on buns with Miracle Whip and Fritos corn
    chips on the side.

This is even better the second day.

    Brisket in Beer

    5 lb. Brisket
    1 pkg, onion soup mix
    1 onion, sliced thinly
    2 stalks celery, diced
    1 c. chili sauce (ketchup-based sauce)
    1/2 c. water
    1 can beer

Brown brisket in dutch oven & drain grease. Sprinkle with onion soup
mix & arrange onion rings & celery over top.

Mix sauce & water; pour over meat.

Bake @ 350 degrees at 40 mins. per pound, or slow-cook all day. About
45 minutes before done, pour beer over meat & continue to cook.

Best if refrigerated overnight. Remove excess grease & slice across
grain. Heat slices in cooking liquid & serve.
