For a few years I have wanted to attend the service of remembrance on
Great Gable but there has always been something preventing me from
attending. This year, I should be free so am considering an overnight
camping trip on Saturday and attending the service on Sunday morning.
I'm about to dig out my Lake District maps but, as I know there are a
few GG attendees here (Sandy?), I thought I'd ask a few questions to
help me on my way.
How long does it take to walk from civilisation to the Great Gable
summit?
Rather than walking up on the Sunday morning, I would probably want to
camp locally (say, within an hour's walk of the summit) and have an
easy walk in in the morning. Can anyone recommend a good pitch?
Yes, I know this is extreme laziness but I don't know the Lakes well
at all.
TIA
