Has anyone heard of Whizz bikes (sic)? We were cycling near Chester
the other day, with our three and a half year old on his seat behind
me, and we came across a family cycling in the opposite direction.
They also had a young child with them who was the same age as ours,
and who was riding on a kind of half-scooter, half-bike. It looked
like a bike, with bike wheels, brakes and a bike saddle, but it had no
pedals, but rather a scooter platform. The child could either use his
feet to push himself along (akin to the manner of the very earliest
bicycles), as he was doing very effectively, or presumably, stand with
one foot on the platform and scoot along with the other leg.
Impressed, I asked his grandfather what it was, and he said it was a
Whizz bike, and he enthused about how well it taught balance without
the need for stabilisers. We immediately decided to get one for our
little one.
However, despite exhaustive Googling, we've drawn a complete blank.
Anyone any idea what I'm talking about? Please? Its nearly Christmas!
