You really need some computer software to supplement the GPS. You can't get
full use out of it otherwise. You'll need a lead to connect the GPS to the
computer of course.

I'd personally recommend OziExplorer and GPSU as "serious" software (maps
not included), and Memory Map, Anquet and Tracklogs as simpler, but more
expensive (maps included) software.

Also if you need a PC cable look on Ebay first, that is where I bought
mine from.

My favorite GUI freeware prog is GPS Trackmaker http://gpstm.com/

Also I have recently started using G7toWin, freeware, to upload
tracks from my GPS to my PC http://www.gpsinformation.org/ronh/g7towin.htm

thanks for the information, plenty to look at so far so please keep it
coming. I have a cable, but it is a serial cable and no com port on
the laptop so have to revert to the old box. I did get a USB adapter,
but it does not work.
