I need a 59 cm TT and a 56 cm ST. Can this be done in steel with a horizontal TT or does it need to be 'compacted'? I would like to use if for a comfortable Double Century ride. I am ca. 215 lbs and quite hard on my equipment Any suggestions on stock steel frames? Does Surley make one? FYI my personal body geometry dictates this combination.

For a stock frame, I think a "compact" version is going to be your only option. No stock 56cm frame is going to have a top tube as long as you require, but a compact frame with that long a top tube is going to slope down enough to the back that you might get the fit you're looking for. The bars will be a bit high (logic says 3cm higher than a typical 56cm) but you can probably deal with that by turning the stem "down" and either removing the spacers (and cutting the fork) or just stack the spacers on top of the stem (generally a temporary solution if it's more than a cm or so).

thanks,
No masny stock frames will have a 59cm TT and a 56cm ST and probably won't be horzontal. Gunnar makes a really nice cusrom steel for $1050..Best deal for a full custom, IMO
