  1. In "Campaign Trail" BHIT and their bogus statistics get a feature, as does their lovely "never mind
the content, feel the Flash" website. I didn't realise they were sponsored by Nationwide Building
Society...apparently some members (including myself) are a bit miffed about this.

Personally I feel the sponsorship money, if any, could have been better spent on the CTC, who are at
least trying to PREVENT accidents and encourage cycling rather than blindly promoting ways of
minimising their impact (bad pun intended), which could make 30-40% of cyclists hang up their wheels
    for good if made complusory.

    Campaign Trail?? Wot that?

And if I was a customer/investor of the Nationwide, I wouldn't be for long. Makes me feel like
opening an account with them just so I could tell them why I closed it. Just a thought, does the
Nationwide (aka gullibles, a bit like the 82 MPs who signed the EDM) have any kind of ethical
investment policy? They might not like being associated with liars and cheats.

And nor did I! Thanks for the info, letters will be written! (I have been a member, originally of
Anglia Hastings & Thanet, since around the time I was born).

Subject to checking the facts first, of course...

The Nationwide has a community/charity office where checks can be made (I've not had time to call
them). However, I did search the website press releases and found no mention of BHIT, yet several
references to child road safety charitable work.
    nationwide.co.ukdefault.htm

If anyone has the time to call and could report back here it would save innundating their office
    with calls....

The matter may be complicated further by the Nationwide Foundation, a separate charitable
    organisation.

If Nationwide is supporting BHIT, then I'll be adding to the letters suggesting that support is
inappropriate given BHIT's record of misrepresentation.

    - Nigel (with a Nationwide passbook going back to the dawn of time - I even remember the merger with
the Hastings and Thanet when the Anglia changed its name briefly....)
