Very handy for doing a bit-for-bit copy of a floppy, but dangerous if

certain model in 38: 'you can't be a 38, that is for fat people'. So I
made her measure it. At the time I was skinny and well trained.
Assuming she is 6' and muscular then the DD is probably in good proportion
with the rest of her. And she should be able to carry a heavy load uphill

At 5'3" and about 10st 6lbs, I'm a 32DD. When I was 15st 3lbs, I was a
38F. To take a 38 anything and not be fat you need to have a large
ribcage. If you are built in proportion to match the ribcage, you'll be
about 6'4". If it's all bone and muscle and you are under 5'10", you'll
look more like a 1970's female Russian shot-putter.

I swim: usually two hour long sessions each week, and I try to do 50-60
lengths in that time. Not too bad for someone with fibro and RSI in
both shoulders!

I am close to 5'10" and with a disproportionately large ribcage - in
clothes I buy tops 1 - 2 sizes larger than trousers. When I was rowing and
had strong back and shoulder muscles I used a 38, now that I am less
muscular and a bit fatter I have changed to 36.
At a physiology practical 2 years ago I measured 123% lung volume compared
to the average for my age and height so I suppose those lungs need some
space....

As we are on the topic of body shapes and you make clothes: I have never
found a fitted jacket (as in formal or office wear) that fits me properly.
Manufacturers assume that if you need a size 16 you have a large belly and
I haven't, I just need that size to get around my shoulders and breasts.
Would a proper tailor be able to make a jacket for an odd shape like that?
And would that cost a fortune?

And back a bit more on topic: in outdoor clothes I usually end up with
men's jackets. Longer sleeves and enough room for shoulders, though
sometimes a bit narrow in the hips!

That sounds reasonable. I seem to have a fair lung capacity for my
small ribcage.

Yes, and not necessarily. Expect to pay twice the RTW price for a
decent jacket (Jaeger or some such) and you could be pleasantly surprised.

That also makes sense.

Where are you based? I'm in Kent. I'm not trying to drum up business,
it's just that someone like me could very well help you, and if you are
not in my area, I might know someone who is closer to you or who can put
you in touch with a good dressmaker and tailor.
