Well, if you didn't complete the Chicago Marathon, you can run in the
Denver Marathon (day after tomorrow) for free.
CHICAGO - Chicago Marathon runners who did not get to finish the course
due to heat or the early end to the race can head west and run in
Sunday's Denver Marathon free of charge. According to a release from the
Denver Marathon, organizers will waive fees to those registered for the
Chicago Marathon who present proof of registration.
"As a former professional athlete, I know what it takes to train for a
big race and the disappointment of not being able to finish due to
circumstances outside of my control," Denver Marathon Executive Director
Anton Villatoro said in a statement. "In response to many local Colorado
runners who were hoping to complete the Chicago Marathon last weekend
but could not finish, our race wants to give these runners another
chance to reach the finish line."
Chicago Marathon runners can register online for the Denver Marathon at
www.denvermarathon.com and enter the online referral code
"ChicagoRunner" or can register in person Friday or Saturday at the
Denver Marathon EXPO at the Adams Mark Hotel, 1550 Court Pl. in Denver,
the release said. The race begins at 9 a.m. (CST) Sunday.
