Triple -iser (Triplizer)

A decent triple can be had for not too much money. My RSX triple from SJS cost me £30.

You may well need to upgrade your front mech to give you more sideways travel, and consequently you
may need to upgrade your gear shifters too?

The device is simply a chainring with extra tabs and holes to take an inner ring.

Might be a 135mm version (for Campag) too (?).

Settle Cycles will probably offer the lowest price (beating SJS by loads) if they can order one -

There are other brands as well - may be cheaper. Check eBay (I think I saw one there the other day
but that could be my memory playing tricks).

Should work ok except for some added flex from the granny (longer BB may also be less than ideal). I
can't think of any major problems but a triple crankset would probably be better.

If Campag, there won't be any need for a different BB if existing one is 111 or 115.5mm and new
cranks are Xenon/Mirage/Veloce/Centaur/Racing T (Mirage cranks are just as good as Centaur & RT's,
it's the rings that are different). Rings can be sold to recoup some of the cost.

I think they are a chainring with five tabs pointing inward with holes drilled with a 74mm PCD so
that a inner ring can be bolted on with suitable spacers.

If Campag, there won't be any need for a different BB if existing one is 111 or 115.5mm and new

Thats what I was thinking about but I'd prefer a 39 instead of a 42 ! :-( I have Ultegra 9 (1999)
ATM and don't really want to spend £90 on a new C/S as well as new BB+mech, yet I don't really want
a cheap (looking) C/S on this bike. 105 would do but they are not much cheaper than Ultegra

Anyone know if the Erikson (SP?) Gizmo is still available - fits in the cable exit of a double
front shifter and allowed you to set it to change between inner two or outer two with a flick of a
little lever

You'll also tend to need a new bottom bracket shaft, else the chainline will end up all wrong.

Thanks for the link. I can't see how that will fix to a Shimano chainset unfortunately as the fixing
for the inner on the crankset is not flat, there is a ridge in which the ring sits. The TA triplizer
seems to have a slot that accommodates this.
