I know what you're thinking. Swimmers? But be honest. Any time there's
any type of female sports on, you're not gonna tell me that you don't
block out whatever they're doing and focus in on the goods....at least
for a split second. So with that said here are five swimmers that can
take a dip in my pool any time.
Ashley Tappin
Claim to Fame:
She won a gold medal in the 400-meter freestyle at the 1992 Barcelona
Games
She won the Spring Nationals Sandy Neilson-Bell Comeback Award in 1998
he won a bronze medal in the 10-meter freestyle and a silver medal in
the 400-meter freestyle at the 1998 Goodwill Games
She also won a bronze medal in the 100-meter freestyle at the 2000
Olympic Trails

Kristina Lum
Claim to Fame:
She was the 1998 and 1999 USOC Sportswoman of the Year and Sullivan
Award nominee
She won a silver medal at the 1998 Goodwill Games
She finished second in individual competition at the 1999 U.S. Olympic
Trials
Her most accomplished feat was when she finished first in synchronized
duet swimming at the 1999 Swiss Open

Natalie Coughlin
Claim to Fame:
She is a 11-time U.S. National champion
She is the world record-holder for the 100-meter and 200-meter
backstroke short course
She was the first swimmer since 1978 to win five national titles at
one meet (2002 Summer Nationals) and established a world record and
American record at the same time
She is the American record-holder in over 10 events, including the 50-
meter, 100-meter and 200-meter backstroke long course
She was the first woman to complete the 100-meter backstroke under a
minute and the first U.S. woman to break 54 seconds in the 100-meter
freestyle long course
She was 1998 World National High School Swimmer of the Year at
Carondelet H.S.
She won the NCAA Swimmer of the Year twice while swimming for UC-
Berkeley
She was a gold medalist in the 100-meter backstroke and 800-meter
freestyle relay at the 2001 World Championships
She won a gold medal (800-meter freestyle relay), two silver medals
(100-meter freestyle, 400-meter medley relay) and two bronze medals
(100-meter backstroke, 400-meter freestyle relay) at the 2005 World
Championships

Franzi Van Almsick
Claim to Fame:
She was one of the youngest participants of the GDR German swimming
team to win a silver and bronze medal
At age 14, she won 2 silver medals in the 200-meter freestyle and a
bronze medal in the 100-meter freestyle and the 4X100-meter freestyle
relay
In 1994, she broke the 8-year old 200-meter freestyle world record at
the World Championships in Rome. She later broke her own record again
in 2002
In 1996, she won a silver medal in 4X200-meter relay
She won a bronze medal at the Sydney Games in 2000
She won 5 titles in the 2002 European Championships in Berlin
In 2004, she added two medals to her tally, a bronze in the 4X200-
meter freestyle relay and a bronze in the 4X100-meter medley relay
