Nope! No pandas and not lost from the quilters either. There are as
yet no quilt fabrics made from bamboo, but it is reputed to have good
thermal and wicking properties. I see clothes all over the place (and
particularly in Sweaty Betty's), but no yardage, except for a fellow
sewist who sells it for making baby stuff - wot I hope not to require
again until I become a granny, a good 10 years or more from now (keeps
fingers crossed - but t'lad was only 13 yesterday).

I've been on RCTQ more than I've been here today. I'll ask them about
bamboo quilt batting. After all, we use silk and wool bats as well as
cotton ad poly... 🙂

Isn't clothing made out of bamboo a bit stiff and restrictive? Japanese
Samurai used body armour made out of it!

I guess it 'wears in' (faster, if people keep whacking it with Katanas
and Wakizashis and suchlike.)

No apparantly it makes a very soft fibre, rather like the finest and
softest silk.

I didn't know that there were clothes made from it. I have seen it used for
towels but with a cotton base to keep it together. I might get some of the
towels as they seem better than linen ones.
