work?Yes. But you need to remember two things; the amount of metal removed
from the blade is infinitesimal and the wear on the stone even less.
Remember, unless you work professionally with a knife every day, these
clamp devices will last a life time. It took me almost 20 YEARS to wear
down my RazorEdge clamp, and I was sharpening a half dozen knives
several times a year. MUCH more than I should have been doing to them.
The stones were thinner, but still in fine shape. You really only need
to put a blade to stone 3-4 times a year, and some folks say THAT is too
often! I'd say that it cost me roughly 2 cents a week to use that
RazorEdge clamp. I just prefer the GATCO, DMT, or Lansky clamp systems
over it as they are more versatile and easier to set up.You mentioned that you were thinking of spending $94 for two clamp
systems. Why not throw in another $25 and get the very best system on

leather on metal blanks to use with it, pulling it backwards, and strop
the blade at the exact angle that you sharpened it!! There is simply no
