Well, I used to have a flat tummy. It was genetic and I didn't appreciate
it the way I should have until those genetics took a turn and it was gone
(or should I say there was a lot more of it?). Oh, well. However, my point
is that I don't there has EVER been a spam-free newsgroup. They are not
harder to get than flat tummies -- they are impossible to get! C'est la
    vie.

Moderated newsgroups are spam-free. I moderated a number of business
newsgroups for quite some time, misc.business.moderated,
    misc.entrepreneurs.moderated and others.

Moderated newsgroups are spam-free. I moderated a number of business
newsgroups for quite some time, misc.business.moderated,
    misc.entrepreneurs.moderated and others.

I currently moderate 3 newsgroups - Two of them are spam free
because they have good quality moderation software that gets
paid for by someone paying a monthly access fee. The other
one gets little spam and few trolls because it uses free software
that isn't as powerful. Should that one ever see decent traffic I
may look for a better server for it.

If folks are motivated enough soc.support.diet.low-carb could
be chartered as a moderated newsgroup and it would be free of
spam and trolls. It's a gigantic "if". Most of the groups that found
the motivation have had ten times the problem ASDLC has.

Having gone through the process of getting a moderated
newsgroup chartered, and being active in newsgroup creation in
general, I would be happy to help through the process anyone
willing to step forward as the proponent. Helping to write the
charter, serving as one member of the moderation team that
has at least two other members, suggesting moderation software.
I'm not motivated enough to pay the $30/month for the best known
and simplest service but I would help folks use that same software
    on some free server.

Just letting folks know the size of the monster.

Low carb content - This weekend we went to North Carolina for
my older daughter's wedding. North Carolina is the home of the
best pork anywhere. We brought home a whole country style
ham. I think we'll slice it, put the slices in Tilia Foodsaver
vacuum bags, freeze most of them. Too salty to use in a big
recipe but great by the single slice at breakfast. Do folks soak
    bigger pieces for recipes?
