I'm sure almost everyone in here gets a craving for something. Lately I have been craving olives. Yesterday I bought a couple of varieties to try. I went to Whole Foods and got some Cerignola olives stuffed with garlic and some Manzanilla olives stuffed with jalapenos. I also picked up a few Gaeta olives and some Picholine. Dinner last night was stuffed proscuitto, lots and lots of olives along with a chunk of hard salami and a couple of mild cheeses. Life is good. I was happy.

Not sure if olives can count as a "craving". I think a "craving" has to be an intermittent thing, and olives are a full time love...

I used to hate olives. There was something about them that turned me off, maybe the smell, the colour...? It probably wasn't the taste because I don't think I had actually tried one. Then one day I had a cae of the munchies and someone set some olives in front of me and I gave them a try. I was impressed. And those were just canned olives. Then I tried some from s local deli that used to add garlic, hot peppers, carrot bits and the end pieces of various cold cuts. That place has since gone under but I have found more places to by fresh <?> olives and always have them on hand.

michael, try the anchovy-stuffed (reese's is the brand i most often see, with cocktail mixes and the like at the grocery store) if you're not olived-out. gad, they're tasty.

Yum. Olives. The Whole Paycheck here in Ann Arbor has next to no parking, so I don't go there very often. They're going to open another one in a place with more parking, so I expect to spend more time (and money) there.
It hasn't hit yet, but every fall I crave pumpkin. Muffins, pie, ice cream, whatever. Unfortunately my husband hates pumpkin, so I usually get my cravings satisfied in restaurants. I make a great pumpkin pie, but I don't want to have the whole thing to myself.

I bought some olives stuffed with salmon in Montreal.. I guess I'm saving them because once in a while I look at them and then put them back in the cupboard! e.

I'm still in your "used to" stage. I can't stand the smell of them, when I walk past them in the supermarket I have to hold my breath so that I won't mini-puke into my mouth.

Used to, as in never having tried them? They are pretty good. I was surprised to find how good they are.

Can't be that good, you forgot the dago red. heheh
Tonight I have a craving for a big slab of Joyva halvah and an egg cream.
And I'm settling for a stinkin' screwdriver and a bag of in-shell Diamond walnuts I found been in the freezer since last Thanksgiving.
A big pair of Crecent slip joint pliers makes for the best nut cracker.

I just had a late-night craving. What did I go for? -- 6 olives, mixed -- in a jar with added caper buds and garlic. I could've eaten many more. Hope it holds me until I fall asleep. Dee Dee

LOL! Have you ever noticed those cute little petite nut crackers found at some of the specialty shops are completely useless? Once I got frustrated, tossed the nut cracker aside, and resorted to using the hammer.

take a walk on the wild side, elaine. not much of an investment to eat one olive, unless refrigerator space is at a serious premium.

I tried the anchovy stuffed a long time ago. I can't recall the brand but they came from the supermarket. They were really good too. Besides eating as is IIRC I chopped some into a salad and I also tried a couple in a vodka martini. Nice and salty.

I love to add olive brine to bloody marys and to martinis as well. I've also added it to cream cheese spreads as well. Good stuff.
