I bought some overshoes this time lat year and they lasted 1 wearing before
the zip collapsed ( it went up the back of the heel. This years offering say
"new for 2007" so they might be better I will give them a try.

My 2 pairs of gloves from last autumn are still in good condition -- but we
didn't have a winter last year. I got 2 sets of mitts in the spring sale and
they are still going strong!

I had a winter windproof cycling jacket last year which was very good -- warm
and distinctly wind proof with a low sweat factor. It is still going strong!
it even got a good write up in the CTC mag. Don't know whether the ones this
years are the same.

The wall mounted bike rack has kept my bikes in safe hands ( together with a
couple of security devices) simple and easy to fit

LIDL's autumn offer were very poor this year!

Yes and I think that Mincemeat might add a tad to my Christmas baking which I
have just started

I'm not risking it, my Aldi overshoes didn't last much longer. I replaced
one zip but then the other one went.

I've had some other Lidl/Aldi bike light sets that have been very good, for
the money. Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with that model
though. The only problem that I can see with it is that it requires two C
type batteries. Unless it's for occasional use, make sure that you've got a
charger that can deal with this type of battery.

The jacket looks like the one I bought at their last sale earlier this
year. You need to be a little careful with the zip, but it's remarkably

The trousers are waterproof. I've not cycled in them (commute's too short to
bother), but I do wear them at work, and they haven't dropped to bits yet.

If they are the same as the ones I got last year, the L legs will be
too short for you to get the loops round your feet, but will overlap
the motorcycling socks (and possibly this batch of cycling socks, but
will leave a gap at the ankle with their summer socks). Actually mine
might have been XL - I just tried to check, but the printing isn't
readable any more. I prefer them to the older not-bib trousers I have
though.

My waist is rather larger than yours though, and they are plenty big
enough for me, so, while it is fairly stretchy fabric, I suspect something
long enough for your legs will be at least slightly loose.
But I don't know if the L and M differ more in leg length or in waist,
or how consistent the sizing is (within batches, or from year to year).

I don't know if they're sourcing the stuff from the same supplier as
in previous years, but I've found Aldi sizes a bit on the large size
in the past. Whereas I take "L" size shorts, tights and tops from
suppliers like Pearl Izumi, Assos or Décathlon, Aldi "L"s are too big
for me.

One of my overshoes had a Achilles Zip, but at the price it's probably worth
trying the new version. I can always hope that it will be the left shoe
which fails this time :-)

Too late to be useful now, but it case it helps someone next time:
Large was labelled as 32-34" waist, XL as 38-40" waist, and they seemed
to be the same length. (There was one of each left in the shop when I got
there this morning, and no 9-11 overshoes.) (Most of my trousers are 36"
waist, but these days several of them do really need a belt, so I got the
Large. Haven't tried them on yet.)
