We're kind of down in the dregs in the pantry department so I was wondering
what you folks think of my idea for dinner tonight.
Hubby's been out of work, so I have to use up what we have - going to the
store isn't an option. I'm leaning towards a pseudo pasta carbonara. The
ingredients I have are:
bacon
(only) 1 egg
about 1/2 cup of a block of parmesan cheese that I can shred
garlic
onion
butter
salt/pepper
Angel hair Pasta
Oh, and peas! I have frozen peas. Sometimes restaurants add that to the
dish. Do any of you? It's literally the only veggie in the house, so I
could also serve it as a side for dinner tonight.
Sadly, I have no milk or cream and no more eggs - aside from the one. I'm
considering making a chicken stock to boil the pasta in, though, and add
some of the pasta water to the butter and cheese to extend them. I've got
lots of chicken parts in the freezer.
Any thoughts, suggestions? Do you think this will work?
Input is appreciated!
