I've convinced my two roadie friends to get on Mountainbikes so we can mix up our rides a bit. However my Trek 4300 is in serious need of a new suspension fork. The stock RST Gila feels like a wet noodle no matter how much adjustment is made. What would be a good replacement fork that won't bust the bank? The most I can probably afford is say 250-300 bucks. I won't be taking any monster jumps but we will hit the trials rather hard.

Work even more overtime,..........and it won't matter if you've bought the cheapest crappiest fork around to support the garagewall 😉

i agree with the financial argument, but think fox forks are much better and worth the reach.

I vote for a used Manitou SX-R or SX-Ti if you can find one on ebay or craiglist for $50. One of the most reliable forks ever made IMO.
