Please tell me the exact type of cancer it is and I will check things out here where I work that he
may not be aware of or his doctors may not have access to.

I hope he pulls through. The treatment can sometimes be worse than the disease.

It's called granulocytic sarcoma. It's rare, but generally pretty treatable for leukemia. I guess
one of the world experts on it is a friend of a friend, and he agrees with the local doctor's
evaluation, so that's a good sign.

Thanks. That's true about the treatment, but without it he'd die for sure. He has a 1' long tumor on
his spine between the spine and his heart. It was discovered because about a year's worth of back
pain kept getting worse and he started losing motor control of his lower body.

I appreciate the thoughts.

I have friend who survived breast cancer now for about 3 years, and an old roommate that survived a
really nasty skin cancer for over a decade. Your buddy will make it!

Tell him my 4 year old son survived 4.5 years of treatment. It sucks but is do'able. When J started
to lose his hair, I did the same thing, we both went and shaved it all off. Never let it grow again
either, now I'm real happy with a few mm of stubble rather than any real hair - maybe hides the grey
and balding better ;-)

Afterwards he can be one of a select group of survivor cyclists, some good company there!
