I have just put some eight speed shifters on my mtb and an eight speed cassette on the back, but I still have a seven speed derailleur on the back - I am now having a problem shifting, most of the gears seem ok, but a couple of them skip, for example - if I'm in 8 and change to 7 it will skip straight to 6.
I hope this doesn't sound too confusing.
I'm not too good with mountain bike stuff.
Will an 8 speed derailleur fix this problem.
Thanks.

You need to match the chain to the Cassette. eg: 8 speed, KMC Z92. 😉
I am assuming the RD is correctly set up with the new cassette and shifters, limit screws, cable adjuster, etc.... 🙄
