  1. With the price of DA 10 STI said to be ~$400, has anyone tried to use ERGO 10 brifters to index 10
speeds cassettes successfuly using a Shimano RD? I know the linkage geometry is different but maybe
we can luck out. And with the 20% off code, you can probably buy a Record ERGO for ~$200. Please
don't tell me to buy a cheapo Campy RD to make this work.

In that case I suggest an expensive Campy RD.

  3. What 20% off code?

Incidentally, I went through this whole Campy Ergo/Shimano rdr research recently, and decided to go
all-Campy. There were various ways to make an Ergo 9/10 work with a Shimano 9s rdr, but none that I
knew of to make it work with a DA 10s rdr. Not that this can't be done, but the DA 10s rdr is new,
and I didn't come across any specific info on how to make it work. If you google this you might come
up w/something. I went all-Campy because I was building up a new bike and didn't want to start out
with an oddball combo that might need tweaking. Plus, I was buying all new components so I wasn't
    locking into certain combos.

    Good luck.

  4. Well, the DA 7800 now costs a bit more than Chorus. Get one of those.

Will not work..why not just get a cheap Campagnolo rear der, any of them including a really nice but
    inexpensive, Mirage one??

Thanks but it is not really a money thing (hard to believe) but the value. When I paid $160 for DA9
STIs and now the $400 ... is an outrage.

Also for those who don't know, DA9 rear will shift DA10 spacing perfectly (because the geometry
    hasn't changed).

Here's my take on "value" - you can spend full price and get a nice complete Dura Ace system. Or you
can spend a bit less and have a cobbled-together multi-vendor system that shifts OK when everything
is new and clean and perfectly adjusted and then turns to [censored] when conditions are no longer
perfect. That is not good value - it is a waste of money. Any matched component set on the market
(eg, 2004 10sp Veloce) will shift better than your Frankenstein's drivetrain.

For people who really like Shimano but don't like the new Dura Ace price, I have to ask, why are you
shopping now? It's the absolute worst time to buy.

If you're willing to consider a Campy shifter, then why not consider a Campy shifter working
properly - ie, with a Campy derailleur?

Just out of interest, if the cable pull between detents is correct, how do you suppose that vendor
A's shifter knows that vendor B's derailleur is on the other end of the cable?

I am here for the fun of the chase. I don't need 10V setups. I don't like the way most of the DA10
stuff look and poor value. DA9 has been used since 1996 (or eariler by Pro teams, need to look at
archived pics) and works fine. I am trying to stir some people who has access to try this setup for
the community. I sold all my Campy stuff so I can't. It is fun to tinker ... for the resourceful
rebels. Heck, I still have a Superbe Pro last generation RD that I haven't given up on as yet.

As for ERGO's, I prefer the older pointy design. Too bad it is so stiff with poor pivot points and
    blade curvature.
