WWW maps where several people may add place markers?

Google does allow this. I've seen it used for NGs and Forums were
someone sets up a group and folks mark a pointer to show where they live
etc.

It might be available via Google Groups but it's definitely out there
somewhere

The name frappa comes to mind but as I am away from home atm I can't

Google Maps does do this quite well, but you do have to have a Google
Account, which is free to set up. Then on Google Maps click the "My
Maps" tab in the left-hand pane, then you can add locations, draw
lines and areas etc, and save your map. Then you can generate a URL so
that anybody can see the map. If you want anybody in the group to be
able to _edit_ the map then I think you'll need to set up a Google
Account for the group and share the password with them.

Exactly, not everyone has or can be bothered to set one up.

Yes, I gave that a quick thought too, but I don't think that's ideal
either...
