I was tempted... until I saw the price! There's only ten in the box so
it's not economic... you can steam vegetable for two in a regular bowl
just as well and what's one more bowl in the wash? They might be
useful for big occasions though, like steaming the beans for
Thanksgiving.

Corningware does. In addition, the best "sprinkle over all" seasoning
cannot be done through the opening because the to-serve-size cut
veggies are stacked atop each other, unlike they are when using an
appropriate Corningware dish. Curiousity tried them, common sense
will not again.

Yes, I agree; I have used the BirdsEye veggies in steamed bags a lot. Very
convenient; not expensive.

Would seem to be a great innovation for the PYV folks who visit those
boutique stores to purchase a meal assembly kit to "cook" at home. Their
time is much too valuable to waste putting a regular bowl in the
dishwasher after using it to steam vegetables in. Probably also have to
use plastic plates and utensils as well so they can just chuck them in
the garbage along with the one time use microwave steamer bags. Can't
waste valuable time putting plates and utensils in the dishwasher
either...

When grocery shopping, I was always amazed at the variety of pre-sliced,
ready to cook potatoes available for sale in Dutch markets.I think they
invented convenience veggies years before I ever saw them in the states.

My husband buys those when shopping at the commissary. They're about a
nickle more than regular bags of frozen veg and a good size for feeding
a small family . I don't go out of my way to buy them though

from recycled material. So, like gasoline, every purchase sends a bit of
money to the country that unashamedly gives more support to terrorists than

I often use a cheap paper plate as a cutting board. I find it to be
especially handy for juicy stuff like tomatoes and melons. I don't have
sticky juice running all over my counter and I can just throw it away
afterwards. But a cutting board cover? Sheesh!

I've tried the BirdsEye variety in the bag ready to go and those are
great. But to buy bags to put my veggies in to steam I just don't get.
I find it easy enough to put them in a bowl and cover with wrap before
cooking in the MW.

Even with the ready to steam bag of veggies I still put them in a bowl
after cooking, so it's not like the Zip'nSteam bags are going to save me
any washing or steps.

I finally saw the commercial for those. Looks like if anything it will
dirty another dish. They put the bag on a plate to microwave and then you'd
have to use a bowl to serve them in.

A paper plate is a good idea, I may try that when I slice tomatoes.
When I cut melons, I cut them on top of a newspaper.
