I watched a show on TV last night that debunks conspiracy theories.
They looked at the Oklahoma City bombing and the similar conspiracy
kooks that don't believe a truck bomb alone could have brought down
the federal building. These whack jobs claim there had to be
additional explosives placed in the building itself. Chief among
them is a retired Air Force General, who allegedly was an explosives
expert. This is the type of almost believable alleged expert that
these kooks like to cite. His main point that supported a
conspiracy was that by his calculations, the truck, loaded with
explosives, placed 15 ft from major structural pillars, could not
have
caused the collapse because it would have only generated 500lbs of
force at the pillars. The experts on the official investigation
calcuated it as 5500lbs. of force.

So, to settle it, the show got an indentical truck, loaded it with
the
exact material McVeigh used, built identical concrete pillars in the
desert and set it off. The result: Over 5600lbs of force recorded
at the pillars, almost spot on to the official experts calculation.
So, now does the General, who obviously knows very little about even
explosives, let alone building collapse, and has lost all credibility
say, ooops, I was wrong? No, he now says the force doesn't matter,
and retreats back to more stupid arguments, like the explosion wasn't
perfectly symettrical, etc.

No it is history. We fully supported the Khmer Rouge for 10 years after we

First, you site nothing that could back up your claim. Second,
your story is otherwise flawed, and I'll tell you why. Concrete
pillars in such buildings are built with a mix of concrete motar
which by itself, [minus the steel re-rod], have passed breaking
strenght tests of 6 to 8,000lbs per square inch, and 8,000lb mix
is what is used in these pillars, and that can be verified by
anyone willing to do a little research. At 30 days after
pouring,the concrete strength of these pillars their break
strength would be 5,200lbs to 5,600lbs and after twenty years, at
least double that, and their strength would continue to grow over
time past that. This is also easily verifiable with a little
research.

Now I'm not an explosion or explosive expert either, but, even a
9th grade science whiz who's ever played with firecrackers would
know if an explosion into the open air would cause damage or not.
In order for most explosions to do excessive, or ANY damage, their
source and action of the explosion has to be contained in order to
pass on the force. For example, if a gun did not have a barrel
surrounding the bullet's explosion, trapping and directing the
force of the explosion, a bullet could do little damage nor go
very far on exploding at all. It would have no directed energy
behind it. A hand grenade would have energy up to a short
distance only because it was surrounded with a skin thick enough
to contain the explosion up to an effective breaking point.
In the case of a uhaul truck loaded with explosives, even massive
amounts of explosives..the only parts of that truck which would be
likely to do excessive damage, would be those heavy parts like the
engine and drive train. A thin .030" side wall of it's cargo box
would simply evaporate, carrying NO force whatsoever in any
direction. All you'd have left would be some force of shock and
air molecules.
