I detest those disgusting Carl's Junior ads. "If it doesn't get all
over you....", or whatever the tag line is. It's just nasty.
Ads like these are one of many things that make me realize I am no
longer the 'target' audience. Not that the CJ ad would EVER have
appealled to me....

I think it went, "If it doesn't get all over the place, it
doesn't belong in your face." The ads don't offend me at all. I
think Carl's are some of the best burgers around. The flame
broiled taste holds up well to all that goop - and I like a wet
burger.
Rally's and Hardee's also used the same commercials for a while,
but they griddle their burgers.

Yep. Those ads were so off-putting I decided never to eat there. And I
never did.

A new Domino's (I think) ad where the dad and son have Oreo cookie
crumb mustaches and beards. Ick.
OTOH, I LOVE the "crantastic" commercial where the woman says, "This
isn't going to stop anytime soon...."
And I got the Snickers commercials words wrong - but it still makes me
laugh. This is the one with the toga guy and Viking guy standing by a
car. The theme is "feast."

Ahhh yes, that *is* how it went. I also think Carl's burgers are
better than most if not all FF-burgers. But that commercial revolts
me.

TammyM,
I ate at Carls Jr. exactly once about 25 years ago. It was a bacon western
cheeseburger. The "western" bbq sauce tasted like medicine and the bacon
was barely cooked. I didn't even finish it. I'm glad it sucked--they were
right next door to me!
I tried searching youtube for those commercials but tired of watching some
of the other really bad ones. They really don't put much emphasis on food
do they?!?

We had a defunct Checkers here in Austin for a few years that we
called "Crackers", because that's where all the drug deals took
place. They finally bulldozed it a couple years ago.
We also have a couple "Short Stop"'s here too, but those are all
mostly gone now, too. Same principle as Checkers and Rallys:
Drive-through only, no seating.

I hate the one for some brand of fibre bars, where anyone who hears him
say he likes them, spews. I wouldn't buy their product on that principle
alone....Sharon

Are you talking about the one that was on lamar and rundberg across from
the HEB?

Yep. You know it? As of 2-3 years ago, it's now an HEB gas
station.

it's not so much the ad as the concept. oreo pizza? yack.
i had trouble with the cinnamon sticks as a side order to pizza, but
that's at least conceivable.

If they'd offer a free six-pack of beer deal instead, I'd give it some
thought.

The commercials are over the top with the sleazy sex theme (for lunch
and dinner) and the stupid bachelor theme (breakfast).

I prefer it w/o the "goop" (mayo and ketchup).

No. Checkers/Rally's is the very bottom of the fast food barrel.
Hardee's/Carl's Junior is well above the middle of the pack. Like
Steve said, they're pretty good. I had a low carb Thickburger today
(no mayo, no ketchup, extra pickle, plus mustard), 2 Big Chefs (no
sauce, extra pickle, + mustard), and a water for a combined breakfast
and lunch.

The bad thing is how they always cook them over well. They cook them
WAY past the point of killing the most hardy and virulent bacteria.
Steak'n Shake has better burgers, but they insist that they're not
fast food. Yeah, Right.

No, they're not.
Worse, in alphabetical order:
A&W
Arby's
Checkers/Rally's
Dairy Queen
Jack in the Box
Sonic
Subway
Taco Bell
But yes, BK's fries have a "slight edge" on McD's.
