I cut open a fresh pineapple last night, and saw lots of black specks. At first I thought it had spoiled in some fashion, but quickly determined that it was tiny seeds.
A bit of net research shows that this is very rare. It's the first time I've seen it, and I bought a pretty fair number of the whole pineapples.
The seeds weren't really all that noticable when eating.

Fresh Del Monte developed an improved golden pineapple a couple of years ago; they were grown in the Caribbean instead of Hawaii, and they apparently were pollinated and so had viable seeds. That allowed their competitors (like Dole) to plant out the seeds and quickly establish their own lines of gold pineapples.
(My brother planted some of the seeds when the pineapples first came out to see if they would grow, and they did.)

Yes, pineapple is the world's largest berry. And I like that the last contributor to that web site is named David Hershey... pineapple goes great with chocolate... a famous ice cream soda called a Hoboken is made with pineapple soda and chocolate ice cream. Naturally I prefer my pineapple with coconut cream, and rum!
Once harvested pineapple does not ripen.... unless you live where pineapple is grown you will probably never taste a field ripened pineapple, except canned. Since most of the sugar is in the bottom portion (stem end) of a pineapple to more equally distribute whatever sugar is contained in your pineapple let it sit leaf end down for a day.

I can not eat raw pineapple for that reason. Nor can I take bromelain supplements. They make me really sick to my stomach for some reason.

Norwegian Cruise Lines has a restaurant on their ships, called Le Bistro. They have a chocolate fondue dessert, that was the first time I had chocolate and pineapple. They offered a variety of fruits, but the pineapple was my favorite.
