For me I found the standard tubes to be a bit more reliable than ultralites.

Something without raised seams. They're incredibly annoying when trying to stick a patch on.

My Bontrager "SUPERLIGHT weight" 700x18c-25c tubes treat me well, come in a pretty mirror-colored
box, and fold up small so they pack nicely as a spare.

Avoid the super lights at discount price by Performance Bike. Every one of them developed a leak,
split or developed an unexplained hole. In other words, 'bargain' tubes are NOT a bargain. On the
other hand,their 'puncture proof' tubes are very good and I recommend them.

I've not had good luck with 'slime' tubes either, the presta valves have been clogged, dirty or
leaked and could not be corrected.

I live in a thorn heavy area of west Texas and I finally put the 'puncture proof' tubes from
Performance Bike in all my tires, along with a 'tire liner' made by Slime or other manufacturers.
I've not had a flat with any of our three bikes since doing this.

The purist's say that's too much weight; and, I've not noticed the difference. But, it sure is nice
to ride the 75mile scenic highway loop now with the assurance of knowing that I will not be fixing
flats every hour or so.
