Schmidt e6z in Berlin?

It literally means base dealer - so the main dealers. Just drop them an
email before or call there to check if they have in stock what you are
looking for. Another popular bike shop for utility bikes in Berlin is

I got my E6Z the other day, at Velophil on Alt Moabit (at the
expense of rather a lot of walking: Berlin is bigger and its
streets a lot longer than they look on the map!).

Cool shop, though. The last decent bike shop I saw was Cycles
Celestin in Albi in France, and there while they had one or two
cool tourers the real bling was 60:40 road:MTB with lots of multi-k
Euro carbon road bikes. Velophil is much more Berlin, though, with
respectable MTB and road sections of course, but also commuter
bikes in the ¤3k+ range, and lots of big fat hubs (dynamos, brakes,
gears).

I gave it a run last night and I was impressed. Over about 10km/h
there is no loss in the light from the existing Lumotec[1], and above
15km/h they jointly put out about 3 times the light. In fact,
riding with the Lumotec alone suddenly seemed rather underwhelming!

The E6 throws a beam with an extraordinarily clearly delineated
rectangle in the middle -- what people have said here about the
optics is very true. I think I have it angled a little too far
down, though, so I get a crisp keystone of light in the road in
front of me -- this looks it would work best illuminating further
in front, showing the way rather than the surface.

Where I have mounted the lights is a bit of a problem though --
both are on the bar, and would be obscured by the bar bag. Do
low-rider bosses take the right dimension bolt? Mine have never
been used and will need to have the paint reamed out first. Other
fork blade solutions? B&M's brake mount doesn't count -- I've tried
it and it was far too fiddly.

Do you have the address to hand - I'd like to check that shop out
myself. Any idea how it compares to Stadler (the big shop off
Königin-Elisabeth-Str. in Charlotteburg)?

72 Alt Moabit. The west end of Alt Moabit, away from the prison. As
I found out to my cost, Alt Moabit is very long, especially when
you start from the east end of it! If I had known where it was,
Turmstrasse U-bahn station isn't far (head west from the station).

I have no idea about Stadler: the only other shop I tried was
Fahrradstation on Leipziger Str (again, Leipziger Str is long, the
shop is at the east end and I started from the west end... I wished
I had a bike!)

Next time maybe you'll phone them and ask for the nearest U-Bahn. :-)
