  1. I've used GU gel from the foil packages and to me it has the consistency of pudding - and so the question I have : isn't it difficult to get the GU into the plastic bottle that is sold to not only hold larger quantities of the GU but also is easier to use ?

Is there a better alternative gel product on the market that would flow into the bottle better ?

  2. I don't know about GU, but Hammer Nutrition and Cliff Bar both sell gels in larger jugs like 650 or 750 mls---in addition to selling individual serving packets. These larger jugs are what I use to transfer the gel in to the smaller, 4 or 5 ounce flasks for rides. You also generally get a better price per gel serving when you buy it by the jug.

  3. thanks Chainstay - since posting the question I also heard that Hammer is a good product and it's like a syrup and so it flows better into the flask.

This thread should be in the Health, Nutrition and Supplement forum.🙂 I like Hammer products myself, especially for long distance riding, but each cyclist tends to develop their own preferences over time with experimentation. If you are interested in Hammer, you can read about and try some of their products by visiting Hammernutrition.com. Also, visit the Health, Nutrition and Supplement forum for information on more good, bicycle nutrition products. I like GU products too, but I didn't notice the option to buy the gel in big jugs for easy transfer to flasks when I checked their website. Maybe I just didn't see them.
