got up to Blackmill, turned around and freewheeled most of the way back
apart from the ,last 1/2 mile of 1-4 that I just spun up.

Reminded my self why I like my bikes(s)

Mmmm. I'm just re-learning. I've been using a bike to potter down
(literally) and back up (!) the mile into our local village for a year or
so. Recently a new "Deli on a farm" opened about 5 miles away and they do
a rather good cream tea. So yesterday I pottered through the lanes (some
of which are part of an NCN), had my tea and pottered back through different
lanes - a complete circle. Surprised myself that (a) I wasn't at all stiff
this morning (b) I did both legs largely non stop (well I wasn't going to
argue with a tractor and load that took up the whole road and when he told
me there was another following I had an enforced rest).

The weather was a bonus.

Ah - that old chestnut! At which point you start wondering about getting
an AirZound :-)

Mind you, ping-ping bells can be on the quiet side. I have one on my
MTB though because the countryside tends to be quieter anyway so it can
be heard, and because it's the only flippin' bell I could find that
doesn't ping continuously off-road!

Bridge. I said do you think I've got a bell on this?

heh mind you'd need a airhorn than bell for traffic or does the humber
have some sharedpath or such?

the mud tires while being totaly useless for strolling around parks and
such of kingston ricmound area, mainly the over the topness of them. do
have one benfit which is the noise ie thin tires with few but very big
nobbles real landrover roar. people turn and look what the noice is.

it might kill you speed a bit though!

I have a bell on my time trial bike; it's one of the little BBB ones which
fix on with rubber bands, and it's on the stalk of the tribars. You can't
actually use it when you're in full crouch mode, but then if you're coming
up behind pedestrians you shouldn't be anyway.
