  1. This is a sweet little Blog with Jewish recipes from a Jewish
    Bubbe.(Grandmother).

Bubba (not the same as Bubbe) Vic, there is a recipe for Kasha
Varnishkes for you among her recipes.

Come to think of it, aren't you an 83 year old Bubbe?

Something seriously wrong with it. I get about 4-5 mins into the 15 min
blintzes Yideo (clever) and it changes to some lame advertisement or
simply crashes. Lovely idea, lousy execution.

I have had no such problems. After Bubbe prepares the dough for the
Blintzes, her grandson chats for a minute or so and recommends
something, which may seem like a commercial, but which I don't believe
really is one. Then Bubbe continues by making the filling.

The program ends with the finished Blintzes looking very beautiful and
then come about two minutes of credits, which I did not watch.

I will try a couple of other episodes.

I'll try again, later. Even Youtube doesn't always work perfect. One
thing, how much flour? She always says "two eggs, two cups of water,
and flour", and then puts in a pre-measured amount.

Blintzes, I love 'em! I will have to watch that episode. Whenever I
hear the word blintzes, it reminds me of the Grand Duchess, Olga
Katrina, in the play "You Can't Take It With You", I love it when she
says, "The Czar always said to me, 'Olga, do not be stingy with the
blintzes!'" I bet I have seen that play a dozen times, and it keeps
getting better every time I see it.

    Thanks for the link, Margaret.

The videos are very nicely made.

Most deplorable, shameful even! And she says it is "a classic European
Jewish recipe", which is ridiculous, as it is very happily unknown in
Europe, except to those unlucky enough to have encountered it in
    America, as you well know.

Also deplorable is her apparent use of crushed buckwheat grains instead
of whole kernels. Good buckwheat kasha can only be made with the
latter. It is hearty, down-to-earth Eastern-European peasant food and
shouldn't be adulterated by a fickle fuse with the fully foreign,
    frivolous, flighty farfalle.

    Most assuredly!
