Hi guys - I'm contemplating buying a SRM - the question is whether it should be the PRO, AM or even the DA/FSA etc... I want to spend as little as possible, as far as i understand it the only difference between the AM and Pro is the number of straing gauges 2 vs. 4... the difference between the AM/PRO and the DA model is the number of strain gauges, 8, AND the stiffness of the pedal arms... please correct me if I'm wrong... I've been reading the forum and it seems to me that people are happy with the consistency of the AM and how it compares to the pro (please give your input) - but how much am i giving up due to the less stiff crankarms? I am aware that the stiffness will probably be more apparent at higher loads(Wattage), is there any concrete information about the AM stiffness vs. the Pro stiffness? I'm on a Pinarello Paris Carbon which is both my racing and training bike - So I'd rather not give up to much stiffness (to the point where it affects performance)...
I believe that crankarms are the same regardless of pro or amateur (excepting DA, FSA, etc. obviously) and the claimed accuracy of "regular" pro vs. dura ace model is the same regardless of the number of gauges. I've got a Campy pro model and I don't notice any issues with mushy cranks, although I've read some reviews that state that the arms aren't as stiff as Shimano or Campy cranks. BTW, I've had folks I know complain about the amateur model's tendency to drift to the point that I don't think it's a fair comparison to say SRM pro vs. amateur. Rather, I would consider a Powertap SL or wireless before an SRM amateur, esp. if you're looking to spend less cash. Just my 02.

I'm just a bit aprehensive about the powertap - to me it seems like a hassle. Plus I don't even know if I can install it on my current wheel (Shimnano Dura Ace 7801-SL ) Do you know if the Powertap SL updates faster than the Wireless? I could imagine there was a delay with the wireless...
