Deputy Editor of Cycling plus magazine, Paul Vincent is today recovering in hospital from serious
injuries after being knocked off his bike.
Paul, one time runner up in the World's Skinniest Singlespeeder competition is in a bad way in
hospital right now.
Office colleague, Simon Withers explained the facts as they are known on the C+ forum today.
'Long-time Cycling Plus deputy editor Paul Vincent will be out of the office for quite a while after
suffering severe injuries in a crash yesterday morning. We're not sure of all the details yet, but
he had just started his 17 mile ride to work to Bath from north of Bristol when he was hit by a car.
The police were called, and we have been told that a car trying to do U-turn while going the wrong
way along a one way street was involved, though we're not sure whether this car hit Paul, or a car
trying to avoid the car doing a U-turn. Either way he suffered severe injuries. He's presently in
Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, with four or five broken ribs, a punctured lung (for which he has a
drain), and a very badly broken ankle, which is being operated on to reset it today. Not
surprisingly he is in a great deal of pain, and he is on a morphine drip. We're hoping to go to see
him early next week, and will keep you posted on his progress.'
