Haven't made it -- yet. I've got one more can of artichoke hearts in
the pantry and one more package of chicken. Might be the lime-onion
marinade chicken things is supplanted with this. If I get the soup
    tomorrow.

In *my* humble opinion, I fail to see the point of posting "untried"
recipes here on r.f.c. - plenty of those over at rec.food.recipes, and
on the net in general. And to be honest this is not something I would
personally fancy... 1/4 teaspoon of cumin in all that "glop" as you
    called it - why bother?

BFD. There are also newsgroups where questions or comments about
computer problems, politics, etymology, short stories, movies, pots and
pans, interior decorating, jokes, pets are on topic and appropriate to
    the spirit of the group.

A post containing or consisting of a recipe is ‹‹ about food, the
lynchpin in the title of this group. Fancy that.

Rec.food.recipes is, as you know, a moderated group that doesn't allow
for any discussion of the recipe. My post about my mongo cucumber, if
I'd posted it to rec.food.recipes, would have elicited recipes but would
not have allowed the subsequent intercourse that took place: questions,
comments, requests for clarification, and expansion of the topic.
Discussion about cooking and food are integral to the success of this
group; starting off topic threads (I understand thread drift) about
anything else only serve to degrade the quality and usefulness of the
    group.

The RFC FAQ file includes this statement: "Recipes and requests for
recipes are welcome here. . . ." There's nothing about requiring
"tried" recipes and I'd venture to say that a good portion of the
recipes posted here haven't been made by the poster. That's just *my*
    humble opinion, though. "-)

No problem don't make it. I'll take no offense.

I don't know -- I haven't made it yet. Must be the recipe creator
thought it needed just a touch of cumin. "Glop" is the technical term.

    Oh, pu-hhhh-leese.

I have gleaned over the last 3 years on r.f.c. (yes, I know I am a
"newbie" here) that you seem to be one of "those" Cabal members (TINC)
that gets their panties in a bunch about all the OFF-Topic posts here...
BUT - just posting "any old recipe" (that you haven't even tried) does
    not overly impress me either.

    HAND.

LOL!! I *do* get agitated about the off-topic [censored] ‹ big secret, huh?
You had to glean it? Seems pretty obvious, I'd thought.

As far as "any old recipe" goes, well, Toots, they're still about *food*
and if a recipe, any old recipe, stimulates and produces *on topic*
conversation, discussion, and disagreement, hot diggetty dog! And if
the on topic thread drifts a bit off course, so it does.

Whether or not you're overly impressed with a recipe ‹ or not much
impressed ‹ doesn't cross my mind. Ever.

You have a nice day, too.

Feh! I was at Cub and forgot about the salsa and black olives. I was
going to fake the glop -- mushrooms are cheap this week. Wound up with
the Chicken in Lime-Onion Marinade instead. It barks. But I picked up
more chicken. I may make this yet this week.

    Golden Artichoke Chicken Bake

    (clipped)

I actually made this one tonight; was a creaky sort of day for the auld
    bones.
Anyhow, I used boneless, skinless chicken [censored] and made the recipe on
stovetop (it was too hot to heat up the oven). I seared the meat, added the
sauce, simmered awhile, sprinkled the olives & dished it up. I added a
sprinkle (okay 3 sprinkles) of chipotle powder to the sauce. I had some
Spanish rice in the microwave bag for a side. I topped the dish with lite
    sour cream & fresh cilantro.
I found it to be very edible. I wanted more spice, both cumin & chiles. I
felt it needed some kinda crunch. We usually have some kind of salad, and a
cucumber, or jicama salad would have been nice and added the crunch. I
should have sliced up some green fresh jalapeños into the dish at the end.
Cheddar cheese over the top would have been nice, but adds more fat calories
    than I get today.
I'll keep the recipe for them days when I need something easy to fix. Or
something where I can vary the heat at the table to each one's taste. Might
be nice for a grill meal, using grilled chicken [censored] (or soy burgers) and
grilled corn/veggies on the side (not too well done).
There you go. He ate it all up and it was easy on my tum-tum.
